Skoolie
/One of my first jobs out of high school was very similar to a YMCA. They had an afterschool program that required a bus, and somewhere in there they acquired a second one. They initially kept both, one as a backup for the nicer one, but eventually decided to sell the older one to a coworker who wanted to turn it into a skoolie and travel the country. For whatever reason, he backed out. Some time later, I asked them if they were still interested in selling it, and they were. In fact, they sold it to me for half what I mistakenly understood to be the offer to my coworker. I pulled most of the seats out and started acquiring a few materials when I worked at Lowe’s for a short time, thinking I might put his plan in action. When I first got ahold of it, I was coming back from my cross country bike trip, during which I had all my belongings in a storage unit. I drove the bus to the storage unit, loaded it up with my belongings, and it’s been storing my stuff ever since. Considering what I’m no longer paying for the unit, the bus paid for itself long ago. My long term plan includes finding a house where I can finally take the stuff out of storage and resume building the traveling tiny house.
